Burway Climb

Burway Climb

A solitary car climbs The Burway – the single track road that rises from the town centre, onto the high, heather moorland of the Long Mynd. As I watch it make its ascent, all I can think about are the times I’ve driven up there, and the sense of dread that always accompanies that drive. The sense of relief when you reach the top is overwhelming. At it’s worst point, there’s no barrier, and it’s a 300-foot drop to the valley below!
