Inaugural Telford@50 Write Now Right Now Literary Festival

I was lucky enough yesterday to be involved in the inaugural Telford Write Now, Right Now Literary Festival, which took place as part of the Telford@50 celebrations. It’s always a little daunting when you establish something new, because you never know whether all of the hard work will pay off, or whether any of the publicity that’s been arranged will generate any interest. Overall, though, it was a great day.

The idea was to have a combined Meet The Author event, where local authors had stalls to sell some of their books, with a selection of creative writing workshops and storytelling events for children.

Typically, after what seems to be one of the longest winters on record, the weather yesterday was wonderful, which tempted people outside, but not into the library. Having said that, I would like to thank everyone who bought some of my books! It was still a successful day from that point of view.

And I must thank those who came to my travel writing workshop. Forty-five minutes isn’t long, but all my delegates worked really hard!

Overall, everyone was pleased with how yesterday’s event went, and already there is talk on how things can be improved for next year. Watch this space!
