The Official (Re)Opening of Burway Books

CRowds outside Burway Books for its offical re-opening

My local bookshop, Burway Books, has recently relocated to new premises, only a couple of doors down from where they used to live, and although they’ve been settled in for a month or two, today was their official opening. The town’s mayor was there, and I was pleased to see a big crowd gathering outside.

Ros, Hilary and Emma have always been brilliant at supporting local authors, so I was keen to go along and show my support for them on this day. (Oh okay, and to partake in the drinks and nibbles!)  Burway Books always has a lot going on, especially during this week, which happens to be Independent Booksellers Week, and over the years they’ve collected a lot of photos from these events. A pictureboard has been created for today’s launch, but I hear today that it is to become a permanent fixture – and quite right too!

(Spot me on the left there!)

It was great to bump into Kate Long, author of The Bad Mother’s Handbook, again and we had an authorly chat over coffee, before returning to Burway Books and doing what others had been doing – buying books!

I wish Burway Books every success in its new premises. So far, it seems to be enjoying its new home.

(Ooh – er, I’ve just spotted myself on Burway Books’s News page on their website!)
