Further details of Leominster’s Festival have been released, along with information about workshops for writers. On Saturday 6th June there are three workshops for writers, of which I’m running two:

10:15- 11:45 Simon Whaley Writing for Magazines 1 – Readership Analysis

Whether you want to write articles or short stories for magazines, knowing who your readers are can increase your chances of publication. This practical workshop will show you how to identify a publication’s core readership and then how to twist your ideas to fit those readerships.

12:00 – 1.30 Fay Wentworth Creating successful short stories’

This workshop is designed to encourage and guide writers through the creation, marketing and publication of short stories. We will explore settings, characterisation and plot, finding inspiration through exercises and discussions.

2:00 – 3:30 Simon Whaley Writing for Magazines 2 – Creating A Magazine Article

It takes several steps to get from an idea to a finished article. This workshop will show you what makes an article idea, how to structure it and how to sell your idea to an editor before you’ve written a word of it.
