My seven-mile route along the River Severn between Alveley and Upper Arley is in the June issue of Country Walking magazine. It’s a lovely stroll for a summer’s afternoon, and not too taxing because it follows the riverbank. And there’s plenty of interest along the way too, including the Severn Valley Country Park, the remains of Haxton’s Quarry and Wharf, Upper Arley Gardens, and also the Severn Valley Railway, especially the engine shed and the station at Highley.
In fact, it’s a great route for train spotters!
